Restore Media President Elected to Board of Directors of the Institute of Classical Architecture & Classical America
The New York, NY-based Institute of Classical Architecture & Classical America (ICA&CA) recently elected Peter H. Miller, president of Restore Media, LLC, to its board of directors. Miller will serve through 2011. Although he is new to the board, Miller has been active with ICA&CA since 2001.
Restore Media publishes Traditional Building and Period Homes magazines and produces the Traditional Building Exhibition and Conference. In addition, Restore Media serves architects, building owners, facilities managers, contractors, developers, suppliers, preservationists and planners with four websites, including Tradweb, a custom building and restoration services directory.
The ICA&CA is the leading national non-profit organization dedicated to advancing the practice and appreciation of the Classical tradition in architecture and the allied arts. It offers programs for students, design and building professionals and the general public in the U.S. and Europe. Academic programs include a Master of Science in Classical design in affiliation with Georgia Tech, continuing education courses, study tours, seminars and intensive winter and summer programs for professionals.
The ICA&CA and Restore Media collaborate on several initiatives, including the biannual Traditional Building Conference program. “Some of our most loyal magazine readers and conference attendees are longtime members of the Institute for Classical Architecture & Classical America,” says Miller.
Recently, Period Homes covered an ICA&CA collaboration of another kind. Working with a grant from the National Endowment of the Arts and Habitat for Humanity, ICA&CA members designed four Classically inspired houses to fit in with the vernacular styles in four communities (see www.period-homes.com/Previous-Issues-08/SeptProject08Art.html).
“I am honored to serve with so many dedicated and talented professionals and patrons of Classical architecture,” says Miller. “In my role I hope to advance traditional building practices and principals and help Americans celebrate our architectural heritage.”
