Copperworks of Don Miller

Don Miller has been a sheet-metal mechanic and raingutter installer since 1975 and a raingutter contractor and coppersmith since 1986. In 1989 he envisioned the complete line of products which are now in his catalog (and some which have yet to appear in his catalog). Don Miller now spends all his time in the production of his unique line of hardware and no longer installs raingutters.

Miller's catalog details items and prices of cast-bronze raingutter brackets; goosenecks designed to lead the water gracefully down and back to the wall following a beautiful french curve; cast-bronze and sheet-copper leaderheads with ornamental options; ten styles of cast-bronze downspout brackets in various sizes and treatments; and cast-bronze lotus-flower chain waterway and cisterns. All of the more-ornate items have name stamps and individual serial numbers to help establish their value as collectibles.

Miller designed all of the hardware in the catalog except for the design of one leaderhead, which was provided by a client, and the basic profile of another line of leaderheads, which is from a historic source. (Most of Miller's products have a very historic look to them; most are not historic per se, but they probably exceed any historic standards for strength and ornamentation.)

Some of the architectural styles complemented by forms in the hardware are Tudor, Spanish, Gothic, French, Victorian, Arts & Crafts, Colonial, Adobe, Asian, and even a minimalist style in the "Moderne" line of brackets aimed at combining great strength and a minimal price.
