Crown City Hardware

Crown City Hardware was founded in Pasadena, CA in 1916. We started out serving the residents of the area as a local hardware store. Since then, we have grown to become one of the nations premier vendors of restoration and decorative hardware. How? Luck mostly. Actually, by listening to the needs of the people that matter most, our customers. Pasadena and its surrounding neighborhoods are full of beautiful older homes.

As a full service local hardware store, it was quite frustrating not being able to assist our customers as they looked to restore these homes. Why? The hardware was no longer produced and not considered very important or profitable by most large hardware companies. So, we decided to do something about it. First, we scoured the world for hardware suppliers and manufacturers specializing in restoration and hard-to-find goods. By the time we were done, we had stocked our shelves with hardware from over two hundred and fifty separate suppliers. It wasn't enough.

There were still (and still are) hundreds of items used commonly in older homes that just weren't available any longer. These included crystal cabinet and door knobs, Craftsman style pulls and knobs, Victorian patterned hinges, and so on. We decided to produce them.

We have contracted with dozens of manufacturers to have literally hundreds of these pieces reproduced exclusively for our customers. In doing so, we placed a strong emphasis on quality and period authenticity. The pieces, we feel, should look and feel just like the originals. Antique pieces you purchase from us are not dusty, worn out, covered in 10 layers of paint nightmares. No, our pieces are as close to original condition as possible.

At over 400 pages, the cost of printing and mailing our Crown City Hardware catalog prohibits us from offering it for free. Please send $6.50 to the address below and we will be glad to send our catalog to you. The catalog charge is refundable with a mail in purchase. Please note that the catalogs are sent bulk mail through the US Postal Service and take approximately 6-8 weeks for delivery. For rush UPS delivery, 1-2 weeks, include an additional $3.00.
