Vulcan Supply Corp. manufactures handcrafted sheet metal roof ornaments, using the finest quality copper and lead coated copper. All items are available with the full range of finishes known to the metalsmith, from gilded to verdigris. Traditional fabrication techniques combined with an attention to detail gives each item "built to last" quality not available in mass produced pieces. The products in The Catalog are inspired by antique designs incorporating modern improvements. For example, we do not mix incompatible metals such as iron and copper -- when a strong armature is required, we use stainless steel. Additionally, we have developed a copper ridge vent and vented cornice for modern, well insulated construction that is attractive and functional. The designs in this catalog are our most requested, but we are frequently commissioned to do custom work and welcome the opportunity to quote individual projects.

All our finials are hand made by experienced craftsmen using Revere copper. Standard copper gauge is 16 ounce, equivalent to .021 inches. Joints are precisely fitted and soldered with traditional, heavy soldering irons, providing solid, watertight seams. Installation instructions are provided. Finials are shipped clean, unlacquered, and unpatined.

Leader boxes make an attractive addition to any gutter system. Attached at the top of leaders, they can often be installed in a way that hides or diminishes the look of leader elbows. We offer ten designs, each of which can be customized by the addition of a variety of stamped or cut details. Stock details include the fleur-de-lis, leafy vine, any letter of the alphabet, and a stylized sun. Available in copper and lead coated copper. Material thickness is .021 inches. Quality roof installations deserve quality fixtures. In today's market virtually every ridge vent offered is plastic. Drawing upon time proven technology in commercial and high-end roofing, we have developed a vented ridge that is effective, attractive, and very long lasting. Designed to be easily installed with basic tools our ridge vent offers permanently affixed insect screening, integral ridge supports, and an installation system that eliminates exposed fasteners. Options include copper and lead coated copper. All are supplied with like material fasteners and clear step-by-step instructions. Available in flat standard ridge or choose from one of our five cresting profiles. Please specify roof slope.

Every weathervane from Vulcan Supply Corp. is designed for long term, maintenance free service. The solid brass shaft has a stainless steel ball bearing for smooth movement, and is lock bolted to an interior collar tie. The shaft is completely enclosed by copper tubing, sealed against water infiltration, and has an attached base flashing in copper. The weathervane slides onto the shaft and is secured by a soldered copper coupling. The weathervane tube is shipped pre- lubricated. Complete installation instructions are provided with each order. Cardinal points, fabricated from .080 inch copper, are available as an option. All weathervanes are flat profile unless specified as "full bodied." Weathervanes are available in .080 inch bright copper, .080 inch lead coated copper, and .080 inch brass plate. Please specify roof slope and cross section -- square, cone, hexagon, or octagon.

Our roof vents are designed and constructed for long term endurance, making them ideal for use with slate, clay tile, copper roofs, and architectural fiberglass shingles. All of our roof vents offer the double protection of like material hardware cloth and screen to keep out insects as well as larger animals.
