We have been in the business of manufacturing reproduction architectural hardware for 12 years. We will faithfully reproduce hardware from your original examples, drawings, photos or research data. We may also be able to assist you with research. Yellowknife Forge hardware is not cast, stamped or reworked commercial product. We set up for long and short run production, and endeavor to use the same techniques as many of the finest shops through out history, both here in America and in Europe. The hardware being made by us today will be used as reproduction standards 50 to 400 years from now. Production standards have waned since the industrial revolution took hold here in America. Cold forming, stamping, and electric welding have virtually eliminated the blacksmith trade. Throughout our 12 years, we have studied and used 150-year-old production templates and painstakingly measured and remeasured original examples. We have spent countless hours researching, documenting, and using production techniques that have been in use for the last 400 years. We specialize in fire-welded shutter, door, and ornamental hardware. We also produce forged furniture, fire screens, interior & exterior railings, gates and lighting fixtures of traditional and contemporary design. Standard Hardware. Yellowknife Forge has standard hardware available. Our standards are based on early examples from our region, Chester, Bucks, Montgomery, and Philadelphia counties in Pennsylvania. We will customize your hardware to your regional and historic specifications. Whether you have a house on a historic register, and your restoration must match the period and region, or you are building a new reproduction house, we can supply what you need. Yellowknife Forge has produced shutter hardware for 125 window houses and has restored historic hardware and fixtures for several historical societies and large estates, from northern Vermont to the Netherlands Antilles.

We offer hardware solutions to door and shutter manufacturers. We can make shutter hardware for window specific applications. And we offer a window scheduling service for the architect who wants to be assured that the shutters will hang consistently no matter how the exterior walls are finished. When designing the reproduction home or restoring a historic house, the builder and the architect need access to traditional hardware in order to achieve the best results. Quality Standards for Reproduction Work. Do you need to replace or reproduce original hardware? Please send us your originals and we will reproduce it. With growing interest in restorations and accurate reproduction houses, there has been an increased need for accurate hardware. We will supply accurate reproductions of your existing hardware or make recommendations based on period and region of your house. The English had strict standards for their ironwork. Consistency was critical then, and still is critical in creating reproduction hardware. Some companies claim that "Inconsistencies in the forge work make it authentic". We disagree... We achieve the highest quality with consistent craftsmanship.
